The Everglows - 2 Minute Hero

Here's a little post to see out the weekend with, in case the last one left you wanting more (and it bloody well should have done)

I'm really pleased to be featuring my lovely pals The Everglows once more, always a pleasure to have them upon my pages (and to also write a blog about them too - arfarf). The chaps have a new single out called "2 Minute Hero" (which of course made me instantly think about The Selecter's "3 Minute Hero"). Before that, you can read all my previous mentionings of the group HERE.

You can Twitterise the band here:

twitter.com/theeverglows

You can have a look at their Soundcloud here:

soundcloud.com/theeverglows

"2 Minute Hero" is yet another corker. It's actually 3 minutes though, lads. I think you were sat at the back, like me, during maths lessons, chewing gum and scratching my name on the desk with a compass.

It's got a really nice, laid back Britpop feel to it, though the band do still retain their mod/psychedelic goodness for anyone who worries they might miss out on that. I love these chaps heaps, their sound really appeals to me and I like their slightly off kilter vocals and guitars. This is another exceptionally pleasing listen and is perfect for lazy summer days. Get it on your playlists this instant.

The guys also tell me they've another track due for release on 17th July, through the NYCFactoryFast label - so watch this space. In the meantime, be a 2 Minute Hero and give The Everglows some support.

Vendettas - Long Island Iced Tea

So, here we are again as we continue with SuperBlogSunday - and this time we're heading in quite a different direction. No, not Cleethorpes...

Again, eagle eyed readers will remember I featured this next Leeds based band, Vendettas, earlier on in the year. If you'd like to go back and read my previous post (and check out how bloody awesome they are) then you can do so HERE.

As always, le necessaries:

You can find the band on Twitter here:

twitter.com/Vendettas_band

You can find them on Facebook here:

facebook.com/vendettasofficial

And you can find their website - to purchase the tuneage thereof, here:

vendettasofficial.co.uk/

And you might also want to look at their YouTubes Channel

youtube.com/user/vendettasuk

Now then. Their new single - called "Long Island Iced Tea" will be out on 3rd July, via their website and via iTunes. I've been dead dead lucky and had a sneaky preview of it, and readers it is TREEMENDOSSSE. It's a perfect bit of mod-revival rock. It's got superb riffage, excellent harmonies and it's another of those tracks that you only need one listen to, to get totally stuck in your head. I've listened to it about 12 times, so you can only imagine what it's like in there now. If you like your music full of energy, with great guitars and perfectly rock-star-awesome vocals then on 3rd July spend some of your hard earned pennies on this fantastic track. You will not regret it. Vendettas surely are one to watch.

The Vendettas - Stuck In Your World

vendettas band

Good of the afternoon to you all. Good of the afternoon, indeed. It is Saturday and if you're not enjoying the weekend, ask yourself why? Is it because, like me, you're knee deep in packing boxes, getting ready to move house and wondering what on earth ever possessed you to own so much crap? Nah. Thought not.

I'm just taking a brief pause in the packing proceedings to share something rather flipping marvellous with you all. Today, I'd like to introduce you to a brilliant band from Leeds called The Vendettas, who have sent me their latest gramaphone recording to share with you all. So, share it I shall.

First of all, the necessaries:

Here is the band's website where you can find out all about them and shizz:

vendettasofficial.co.uk/

Here is the band's Twitter feed, where you can tell them how fabulous they are and what have you:

twitter.com/Vendettas_band

And here, is the link to their new single so you can watch/listen:

If you want to buy it, you can make a purchase thereof from here:

vendettasofficial.co.uk/#!music/cfbf

And if you don't, I'll send someone round to sort you out.

This is a corker of a single. If you've liked other bands I've reviewed on here, like The Everglows, The Whereabouts and what have you, you'll LOVE these guys. They've got a brilliant mod sound, quirky, funny and very VERY catchy. This new song (which is out NOW NOW NOW) has such a fantastically great hook to it you can't help but want to jump up and down when you listen. Actually, these guys are the second act this week that have made me do that. There's either something in the music, or I need to change my washing powder. Also, it shouldn't be about looks, it should always be about the music, but The Vendettas LOOK the part too, which I think intensifies their sound.

We need more top tuneage like this for the Spring and Summer and you should place The Vendettas very high on your happy-as-fuck playlists for the coming months. This is a stonker of a track and I'm looking forward to featuring more of these guys over the coming months.

The Everglows - Amanita

Good afternoon. It's Sunday. It's the Sunday before Christmas, which doesn't technically have a name but given the number of things that have gone wrong in thegeneral's house today, it might well now be termed "Fuck The Fuck Off Sunday".

Anyway, bad luck and household woes aside, I've got some more brilliant new music to share with you and I'm happy to be doing so.

If you read these pages regularly you'll know that The Everglows have, over the last few months. become something of a fixture on the blog and I'm really pleased that they got in touch with me again to share their latest song - which is literally and actually out literally today. If you'd like to, you can read my previous posts on the band HERE.

However, ye can hear the new song by clicking on the link to their soundcloud page here:

soundcloud.com/theeverglows/amanita

"Amanita" is another soup-herb track, and continues their psychedelic excellence apace. There's also something slightly punky about this too - it's got a fab rough around the edges, discordant feel to it, which the band really do so well. It's also one of those kind of songs that you only really need to listen to once before you can sing along - or in my case, have it stuck in your head all day - always the sign of good tunesmithery in my book.

If you're after new music this festive season which isn't festive or...er...of the season, then give the new track by The Everglows a whirl. You need it in your life!
